Concrete Statuary
For a long time people have enjoyed the presence of statuary which usually stands proudly in a number of gardens. Some of these gardens are placed outdoors while others are placed indoors.
How Concrete Statues Are Used
Concrete statues are used for a variety of different horticulture projects. For instance, statues have been placed in vegetable gardens and flower gardens as well as in landscape designs created in either the front or back yard of a home.
Some homeowners as well as owners of tourist real estate may even consider creating a greenhouse in which statues stand tall. You can find many different types of statues to choose from if you are currently drafting up a landscape architecture plan.
Types Of Concrete Statuary
One type of concrete statuary is created solely for athletic or symbolic reasons. It could be a wildlife statue such as a tiger, wolf, or elephant that could be placed in a certain geographical landscape themed garden.
It could also be a concrete statue that is of a more domestic nature, such as a dog or cat sculpture. Other types of statuary may be more functional.
One of the most favorite of a more functional piece of concrete statue is the ones that are created into rock formations from which water flows. Others may be of a cuter and classical nature such as that of a child or cupid with water flowing from it, or that of a water fountain much like the ones displayed in shopping malls or city parks.
Other types of concrete statuary which could provide some sort of useful function are the ones that act as pedestals. These pedestals are often those turned into bird feeders or sometimes are used as a stand on which a bird house can be set. Other times, a small flower bush might be set on the top of one of these pedestals.
Treating Concrete Statues
Some concrete statues are treated. For instance, some of them are finished with an acid concrete stain for extra protection and for a more polished effect. In fact, you might even be able to find a concrete stain to use in order to create a look of a certain color theme.
For instance, perhaps a homeowner would like all the stone pieces and statues placed in his or her yard to be of a certain rock color. This look can be created by glossing one or more coats over a plain concrete sculpture.
