Stepping stones are very popular in the making of gardens. However, you also can find countless other unique items to use for the decorating of a garden. You can even make a variety of your own décor for the garden.

Other accessories that have been made or purchased for decorating a garden include garden flags, windsocks (placed on flagpole or stand), statues, and decorative trim. Ancient and contemporary sundials used for telling time have often also become a part of the garden decorating theme as well.

People have not stopped with the use of these items however. For instance, some people have placed lanterns, lighted gazing balls, and bird feeders in their gardens. Still yet, other people have displayed decorative mailboxes, water fountains (or water falls), and mini-ponds in or near their garden.

Along the perimeter of a garden-depending whether it is a decorative flower garden or a vegetable garden a gardener might also place decorative trim.

Some are simpler, such as the black edging which is often used for small landscape patches around the perimeter of a home. However, other trims might be more elegant, such as the ones made out of treated concrete, stone, or durable metals.

Garden Themes For The Creative Decorator

When gardeners use a combination of different garden accessories for decorating a garden, they can come up with themes all their own. For instance, perhaps a homeowner would like to have their garden represent a paradise or fairy tale land. In this garden scene figures such as angels, wands, and crystals might be used.

Garden Gates

One other garden accessory that is used to allow entry and exit into a garden from just one location would be a garden gate. This would prevent people from walking onto precious plants and foods that would be carefully cultivated over a period of time.

A garden gate connected to a fenced-in garden would also help deter some larger animals from entering the garden. This will help reduce the amount of damage that could be done to plants, trees, bushes, or flowers that grow in these gardens.

Indoor Garden Accessories

A large number of the outdoor garden accessories can be used indoors. However, you might consider other indoor garden accessories to make your greenhouse even livelier.

Depending upon whether it is a tropical garden or a freshwater garden, perhaps you would add items such as fake parrots, wild animals (imitation of course) and lily pads or cattail (either real or fake). Perhaps you would also include some real tropical trees, fish, and even real birds if you dare.

Another common item used in indoor gardens would be sound effects. You can perhaps find even a variation of different sound effects that would play at different intervals. These could represent rainforests, thunderstorms, birds, jungle life, and so on.
